Our ‘Rock Enrol’ programme, launched last autumn, saw us work with twenty schools and colleges to connect the world of politics with everyday life and get across the importance of being registered to vote. The pilot registered over 4000 young people; most of whom didn’t even know that the electoral register existed and the impact it has on their lives.
The Sheila McKechnie Foundation (SMK) is here to support individuals, groups and communities to have the skills and confidence to speak up and take effective action on issues that matter to them. We do this by connecting, informing and supporting campaigners.
All our work is focused on empowering people to have a voice. The bulk of our work is focused on those who are new to campaigning, are marginalised, have few resources and cannot get the support they need elsewhere.
Our work includes:Read More
•The annual SMK Campaigner Awards, to support new and emerging campaigners
•Events and workshops about effective campaigning
•Campaign Central, the online community for campaigners
•Promoting the rights of campaigners
