The Sheila McKechnie Foundation (SMK) is here to support individuals, groups and communities to have the skills and confidence to speak up and take effective action on issues that matter to them. We do this by connecting, informing and supporting campaigners.
All our work is focused on empowering people to have a voice. The bulk of our work is focused on those who are new to campaigning, are marginalised, have few resources and cannot get the support they need elsewhere.
Our work includes:
- The annual SMK c, to support new and emerging campaigners
- Events and workshops about effective campaigning
- Campaign Central, the online community for campaigners
- Promoting the rights of campaigners

Shout Out! Together
Shout Out! Together is SMK’s young people programme and aims to inspire and nurture the next generation of young campaigners, through participatory workshops, where young people choose an issue that they care about.
The programme encourages active citizenship, and enables young people to engage with and create bridges within their communities through activism and campaigning.
The Campaign Central website is managed by SMK. Its aim is to connect, inform and support campaigners.
Whether you are protesting about global climate change or petitioning about road safety in your local area, Campaign Central is an online community that can help you.
